I just downloaded OS 26.2 Tahoe onto my MacBookPro (2022 vintage). Just within the first hour of use I have found: (1) The search function in Finder windows does not work. (2) I cannot drag and drop files into a folder unless that folder has been previously opened in its own window. (3) New Safari windows and tabs have a black header instead of white. Cures?

Given that none of those are happening here I'd suggest you do a restart into Safe mode, and then restart again.
Safari >> Tabs
UnCheck " Show Collars is tab bar "
OK, problem 3 is because Safari is matching the header to the background of the web page it is showing -- I've variously seen black, white, grey for sites I have visited so far. Problem explained -- I can live with that now :-)
On further experimentation, Problem 2 only happens if I drag and drop onto a folder icon -- it works OK if I drag and drop onto the folder's title (all this is done in list mode). Strange but workable.

This is a Feature that possible, the User ( you ) was not aware of, which does not constitute a Bug

I've done this. Problem 1 is cured. Thanks! Problem 2 partially -- I can now drag and drop into folders open as submenus within a window (in list mode). Problem 3 remains.
