Where did the .com feature go in iPadOS 26.2?

Up until the 26.2 update, on the iPad, full screen keyboard, holding the "." key would allow me to quickly add a .com (or .net or other) to a URL. With the latest update, it is no longer there. I now get quotes, ellipsis, or the Spanish upside down question mark as choices.

I think I've checked the settings pretty thoroughly but can't seem to find where to reset this back to where it was or if that's even an option.

Also, but much less important - when looking through the various keyboard options, many have the Apple "Command" key as a combination with other keys. The iPad doesn't have a command key, does it?

For Safari and Firefox browser Apps, are you certain that you are seeing the domain extensions when holding the "." key - and not, as more likely, the key to the immediate right of the space bar - which does expose additional domain extensions:

By example - this screenshot taken from my own iPad Pro 12.9" M1 with iPadOS 26.2 installed:

Dependent upon your iPad model and device settings, the positioning of the domain key relative to the "." key will differ slightly.

I did not detect your intended sarcasm as you describe - and answered on the basis of a sincere question being asked. I surmise that you refer to the ⌘ shortcuts as seen when you reveal the top Menu Bar with a downward-swipe from the top-centre edge of the iPad screen:

If you choose to do so, the Top Menu Bar (intended for use when an external keyboard is being used with iPad can be disabled (i.e. hidden from unnecessary view) from iPad settings:

Settings > Multitasking & Gestures > [Gestures] Swipe to Reveal Top Menu Bar - set to OFF

I don't recall observing a held "." key offering the .com or .net domain extension directly from the on-screen keyboard. However, these extensions may be offered in specific contexts from the Shortcuts (a.k.a. Predictive Text bar) that is seen above the keys of the on-screen keyboard:

Settings > General > Keyboards > Predictive Text - select ON or OFF as required

The on-screen keyboard does not have a "Command" key. The "Command" key is applicable only to an external physical keyboard (marked as ⌘ or CMD).

Holding the . key has offered .com/.net and other choices for a very long time using Safari/Firefox and other browsers on the iPad.

Here's my older iPad showing the options followed by my newer one (updated to 26.2 last night) - which no longer has it. It was there yesterday.

Predictive text is OFF on both iPads. I even just checked my wife's as well and with 18.x also has the shortcuts enabled.

The Command button comment was sort of sarcastic. I'd think the iPad settings wouldn't offer those options if you don't have an external keyboard in use. The shortcut question is the real issue.

Indeed. If you have selected Full-Screen Apps in preference to Windowed Apps within the Multitasking & Gestures settings, you won't see (or be able to access) the Top Menu Bar or associated menus with ⌘ shortcuts.

If you enable Windowed Apps, you can still use Apps in full-screen mode - and won't lose additional iPadOS functionality that is only available in Windowed Apps mode.

I'm not worried about Notes or anything else. Just typing a URL into a browser, like I've done every day for years with my ipad. After getting 26.2 last night, the feature has gone away.

I was using Notes as an example.

Can you show me an image with 26.2, entering a URL and holding down the . key to get the domain shortcut please.

I can corroborate that it doesn't work in the URL bar in Safari. I admit that I've never used it that way before. I only ever use it for email addresses.

An internet search indicates that other people have reported the same issue, though I have no idea of how ubiquitous it is.

I suggest that you send feedback to Apple:

Thanks... Regular iPad, not a Pro. The keyboard isn't the extended one, so the extra key by the space bar doesn't exist.

I absolutely know that I was previously holding down the "." key to get the shortcuts for domain handling to appear.

I appreciate the help, even with the Command keys. The settings you describe on my ipad don't match what you suggested, but I'll keep playing with them to get rid of the extra noise for multitasking. Solved... I found that if I only use full screen (which I prefer), then the top pull down menu is turned off by default.
