If that still doesn't work for you, then another alternative would be a mask...
Say you have an image that you want to fade-in.
Overlay this image with a rectangle of the same dimensions.
Apply a fade to 0% action to the rectangle.
This will have the effect of fading-in whatever is underneath the rectangle, i.e. the image you're trying to reveal.
Both the rectangle and the image can have a Move action applied, so they move in synch. Or, with careful placement/layering, the rectangle could cover the entire range for the image move, so the image moves at the lowest layer, while the rectangle gradually fades out.
