iOS 26 update, "Passcode has been used too frequently"

After iOS 26 update, I entered a new passcode (which was my last passcode). I get the New Passcode screen with "passcode has been used too frequently" message. I tried entering my passcode multiple times but get the same message, that it has been used too frequently. I've tried to shutdown but the power down slider is just underneath the New Passcode message and I cannot turn it off. I tried holding the volume down and volume up button and button on the other side of the phone but get a message about making an emergency call.

Do this:

  • Press and quickly release volume up button then immediately
  • Press and quickly release volume down button then immediately
  • Press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button. KEEP HOLDING it past the swipe to power off your phone and KEEP HOLDING it until the screen goes dark and KEEP HOLDING until you see the Apple Logo, then let go
