Why Apple Cash Remains ‘Locked’???

Does anyone have any insight as to how to gather more information from Green Dot Apple Cash support when (without any notice whatsoever) you find your Apple Cash is ‘Locked.’??? Interestingly, I have never used Apple Cash and only happened to notice when opening my Apple Wallet that the Apple Cash was locked. I have called three times (12/15/25, 12/22/25 and 1/13/26) and each time did not learn anything other than my Apple Cash is locked. Duh. That’s why I was calling. There appears to be no notification when this happens and no one at Green Dot can advise anything further. Any insight or recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have other devices signed into your account? You can check at Settings > [name on top], and scroll to the bottom.

Are you sharing your Apple Account with anyone else?

If you see Apple Cash in your Wallet, that means it has been turned on and it is not in the Wallet by default without action taken by you or another device using your Apple Account. It may be locked until Identity Verification is performed. If Identity Verification was performed and failed, there are typically no second chances to correct the information.

If your Apple Cash account is restricted or locked - Apple Support

Other than the identify verification, there is not much a Support Agent can do to assist in removing a Locked account and they are not even given the reason why it could be locked. It some cases it is not even possible to remove the lock and you will never be given the reason or prior notification of that action. The reason has more to do with the Banking Regulations that Green Dot must follow and are prevented by law from telling you what that is and it is not even disclosed to a Support Agent where an unlawful disclosure could occur.

Don't know what was communicated between you and support but the reason why it would be locked is outlined here If your Apple Cash account is restricted or locked - Apple Support

Banks are federally and state regulated. In cases where accounts are locked, the bank may be restricted by law for communicating even basic information.

Have you ever been the victim of identity theft? Have you ever reported fraud on any bank account or credit card account? Does anyone else have access to your iPhone? Is your device a managed by a third party such as employer or university?
