HSA Bank Apply Pay Verification Issues

Having trouble adding HSA Bank card to Apple Pay.

When adding card to wallet, says I need to 'complete verification'... only option is to call number provided (to HSA Bank)... speak with a representative, and they verify the card is activated (after used for first time)... there is nothing further HSA Bank can do to 'activate' the card... but, the card still remains unusable in Apple Pay as it shows as open verification.

This seems to be a somewhat new problem with HSA's new Mastercards, as the previous Visa cards were added just fine to Apple Pay (same HSA account).

Can someone help me understand how to open a ticket with Apple because HSA is adamant that this issue needs to be resolved on Apple's side (after may calls and escalations within HSA Bank organization)... seems like the two systems are not communicating properly.

Hi, unfortunately Apple is not going to be able to assist with this issue. The entire verification process is anonymous to Apple. The notification you’re receiving is generated by the bank. Your bank and Mastercard are the two entities that do verification and authentication of your card. Apple does not participate in the process.

You’ll need to work through the bank’s support system and escalate the issue through their system. Mastercard also does not directly work with account owners for verification. Your banks support team will need to contact Mastercard if everything checks out with their system.

As a remote possibility, have you installed the banks mobile app and logged into it with your credentials? Some banks require that. Not sure if your particular bank does, but it’s worth a try.

Apple is not saying it is or isn’t verified. Apple has no way of knowing. The process is anonymous. But the message you’re seeing is an error message from your bank, not Apple.

You might want to review the thread I linked to below. The original poster didn’t title his post very well so don’t be confused as to the issue. It’s essentially the same issue you’re having. It goes more in depth into the process and the resolution.

Thanks for the response, unfortunately very frustrating.

As stated, through several connections with the bank's management and technical support, there is nothing they can do to 'reverify' the account.

Was hoping I could trigger a request for an investigation to the connection, as other systems that use verifications (i.e. Plaid) have some sort of support system that can at least investigate the problem.... to find out where (and how) the disconnection is happening.

Bank says card is verified... Apple says it's not... I guess I need to just wait until HSA moves back to a Visa solution...
