Single AirPod having connection issues

My right AirPod (Gen 3) is having issues where it’s quiet when connected. The audio is quiet or crackly, as if it’s been bass boosted to the extreme. I can fix this issue by forgetting the device and reconnecting it, so i assume it’s a problem with the Bluetooth connection. I know I have this fix, but I have to do it everytime I put on my AirPods and it’s very frustrating. I have tried restarting my phone and cleaning my AirPods and AirPod case. I need to know if this is a fundamental issue that can’t be resolved or if there’s another way to fix this. I haven’t found any posts here or on other sites about this issue so I’m at a loss. If it’s any help my iPhone is a iPhone 14.

First of all: You may want to check whether both the iPhone and the Aitpods have up-to-date software:

Eg: Firmware updates often contain bug-fixes and improvements

To check for newest available iOS version(s) on iPhone : See : Settings > General > Software updates

If you choose to update iOS : It is always wise to back-up iPhone first
