Unable to add a premium podcast URL in the Apple Podcasts app

Hi. This is a question about the podcast app. I have a premium subscription to a podcast that I have been listening to for years with no issues. Then, starting in November, I would be switched to the "free" (with ads) version. Every week I would have to unsubscribe, put in the premium url and resubscribe. Then...same thing next week. This week I can't even add in the premium url. It just doesn't do anything. Any idea what might be going on.
