I have a subscription to apple tv but many of the movies and tv shows I click on are rent or buy only. How do I avoid that time waster and see ONLY movies and tv shows that I can watch for “free” after the subscription price?

In the Apple TV app on devices (rather than the website), you can also find all the included subscription content through the “Apple TV” tab of the Apple TV app. E.g. on Mac:
There are also named lists on Wikipedia [TV shows/episodic] [movies/non-episodic], with less promotional efforts, if you find such an overview preferable.
That's your choice. Apple TV subscriptions give your access to Apple TV content; not content. from other providers. You can see the catalog at tv.apple.com
I’ve cancelled my apple tv subscription because I can’t find movies and television shows to watch that aren’t for rent or to purchase. Extremely frustrated with Apple!!!
