I have a subscription to apple tv but many of the movies and tv shows I click on are rent or buy only. How do I avoid that time waster and see ONLY movies and tv shows that I can watch for “free” after the subscription price?

That's your choice. Apple TV subscriptions give your access to Apple TV content; not content. from other providers. You can see the catalog at tv.apple.com
I’ve cancelled my apple tv subscription because I can’t find movies and television shows to watch that aren’t for rent or to purchase. Extremely frustrated with Apple!!!
