Shuffle broken in Music after Tahoe install

After installing Tahoe OS 26.2 and launching Music, I cannot shuffle songs in my Library. Any attempt leads to spinning beach ball and force quit. None of the advisors at Apple Care have been able to fix this. I have a MacBook Pro and Music 1.6.2.57 My music is on an external drive about 4.7 TB

"Here's something, the shuffle seems to be working within an Album but not if I chose Songs from my Library. Would love to shuffle everything like I used to."

-------

Shuffling Issues:

Shuffling on both Album and on Songs works just fine for me. So, I recommend (A.) Report this to Apple, and (B.) Reinstall the macOS:

A. Report this to Apple:

Do Your Part: Report this to AppleApple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what issues are out there, and how they are affecting their users. These are just user-to-user forums. Apple barely reads these forums as it is on their own time and will. Apple will know nothing of your issue, if you do not provide them with your feedback.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - Music - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Library" for the "What Apple Music feature is your feedback about?"
  4. Comment: that this all began after installing this update. Include the URL of this thread.
  5. Proceed from there as necessary

then...

B. Reinstall the macOS:

Go Here: How to Reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support. Nothing would be lost; it's just fat damaged and missing files would be replaced and reinstalled, respectively. Boot into Recovery Mode (Intel or Silicon).  Important: Important: Be certain to create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac prior to all of this. That way, you can have something to restore from the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall. Once reinstalled, try this once more.

How have they had you troubleshoot this?

Rotating Circle with Apple Music:

Something seems to be pending, but something else is getting in the way here.

A. VPNs:

Are you suing a VPN? If so, turn it off.

B. Force Quit ALL Apps:

Save what need be, and then Force Quit ALL apps. See if it then goes away:

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: Force Quit...
  3. Click: Force Quit button
  4. Click: Force Quit button

C. Remove this as a Login Item:

If this keeps going up, then you need to remove this as a login item:

View Login Items:

  1. Go To: System Settings
  2. ClicK: General
  3. Select: this app in "Open at Login"
  4. Click: "-"
  5. Close: System Settings

D. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe Mode, login items do not open at login, and certain system files and caches are relocated and fixed, respectively. Go Here: Start Up your Mac in Safe Mode - Apple Support

Music is not a login item Tried opening in Safe mode with Apple Care. Did not fix it.

Restart your Computer:

It’s probably no mere coincidence that Verizon (and reportedly AT&T) had a severe Cellular issue, with services being down. So, restart your computer, trying this once more.

Re-Authorize your Computer

  1. Open: Music app
  2. Click: Account menu
  3. Hover Over: Authorizations
  4. Select: Deauthorize this Computer…
  5. Select: Authorize this Computer...

Thanks I submitted a bug report to Apple, I then reinstalled Tahoe. Unfortunately the problem still persists. My library is on an external drive and large, about 5TB. All the OS versions have been able to handle a shuffle up to now.

Thanks is for doing your port.

It will help many, for certain.

Two thoughts from here:

Reset to Factory Settings:

Back up your Mac 100% using Time Machine Backup, and then erase your Mac and reset it to factory settings. Use Migration Assistant to reinstall items. Contact the developers, requesting a new key, if you cannot resinstall it.

or…

B. Make an Apple Store Appointment:

Set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, it will be diagnosed, and you'll be provided with your options. IMPORTANT: Be certain to create a Tine Machine Backup prior to bringing it in, as Apple is NOT responsible for loss of data.
