You can't include a tiff option. That tool does what it does and that's it.

However, you can add a new Quick Action using Automator. Create a new Quick Action type. Then choose the "Change type of images" action and follow the prompts.

You might even be able to use this feature to create your own conversion tool instead of the one provided by the system. It sure wouldn't be difficult to improve on this:

Also, I want to point out two things. Limnos is correct. It's a bad idea to convert a JPEG to a TIFF. You gain nothing and lose disk space. When I tested my TIFF converter Quick Action, all it did was convert a 1.1 MB PNG file into a 12.6 MB TIFF file.

Also, you can just use Preview itself to perform these conversions. These Quick Actions don't impress me very much.

To answer your question, no, you can't add the tiff format to Preview. Preview is not designed for that. You would need a third party conversion app like GraphicConverter to do that.

That's a waste of space. TIFF is a high resolution format. You won't regain the quality lost in a jpg, you will only make the file larger. FWIW, it's the same thing if you want to convert a mp3 to an AIFF format.

I always found TIFF to be problematic on the web...

not to mention TIFF is archival...

I would suspect png is a more adequate/better choice for 99.9% reason for converting...
