Too much of the malware around is arguably the security apps that the user has intentionally installed, and too much of the rest is bogus claims from advertisements selling problematic security apps.

As there are no viruses in the wild that can affect macOS, this seems unlikely.

When you say it's "showing a possible virus," what do you mean? Are you seeing some sort of notification? A pop-up window in your browser? Are you using something like CleanMyMac or some other "anti-virus" program?
