Logic Pro X: Volume/pan not affecting grouped channels

Hi

It seems like out of nowhere I'm no longer able to use volume and pan to affect all channels in a group.

I'm not sure what happened but I can be for certain it was working up till today.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

What's up everyone. Sorry for not updating sooner I've been really busy.

It seems that the computer just needed a reboot.

The night that happened I had a late session and it happened on the last project being worked on. I was just so tired I didn't even restart the computer, I just ended the session.

Looking back at it now, I remember on one of the projects getting that message from Logic that "A plugin has reported a problem and Logic needs to be rebooted". When I restarted Logic (but not the Mac Mini) everything seemed okay but I didn't have to use the group feature until the last project. I'm thinking now that had something to do with it and that I probably should've restarted the computer after that message.

Anyway, everything appears to be fine again as you can see from the picture.

@D.I. Johnson, the last time one of my devices updated by accident (my iPad that I use Logic remote on) it no longer allowed me to control Logic 10 so I had to upgrade everything and it cost me $2000.

I like some of the old Native Instruments plugins that I have and based on their website those plugins are now obsolete. They currently work with Logic 11.1.2 and I still have older projects that use them that I still need to work on. I don't want to do an update and find out those projects are missing sounds - really discouraging feeling.

The best advice I can give after this experience is for you to make sure whatever parameter your adjusting is doing what you're expecting it to do, that's how I noticed the groups weren't working properly.

Thanks for all the support. I always get good advice from this community.

I agree with @Iaamusic that this should work and I'm unaware of any Logic app setting(s) that would disable this.

You didn't tell us if a restart fixed anything or even if you relaunched the Logic app. Those would be the first things to try.

You might also try rebooting in safe mode to see if that clears it up. Restart again normally and reevaluate the problem.

After that, as our friend @yoyoBen suggested, updating to 15.7.3 and Logic 11.2.2 would be in order.

I empathize with you regarding your caution in the face of applying updates, but I believe it's best to keep the current OS updated along with any regularly used apps, if for no other reason than to take advantage of any bug fixes and/or corrections that may be included with those updates.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but to my understanding the group option is a feature that's still supposed to work even if I'm using Logic Pro 11.1.2.

Updating to 11.2.2 would make sense if they just made the group feature available for 11.2.2 but I've been using Logic since 2009 and the group options always been available.

I have too many plugins to just update to a new version of Logic without ensuring compatibility.

Thanks.
