Question About Apple Pay Credit Card Number

When I read about Apple Pay it says it generates a random credit card number each time you use it, but I noticed on mine it's always the same number. It's different from my actual credit card number, but it's always the same. Is this correct? Or is it supposed to be a different number each time?
