Finder column view: Scroll bar covers resize points in Tahoe

Recently updated to Tahoe. I almost exclusively use finder in the "column view" setting. In the past I have been able to expand the width of the column to include the full names of files. In the recent update the scroll bar covers those drag points if I am deep enough into nested folders:

Is there a way around this problem other than using a different view setting?

Let it be known that the suggestion by @leroydouglas actually works. Thank you!

However, Apple completely dropped the ball here. Not only does the setting "Always" have the horizontal scrollbar obscure the resize grips but it also changes the behavior of the vertical column separator lines. In the worst possible way, one might add.

When "When scrolling" is activated, there are no grip points anymore but only thin vertical lines between columns that are grippable everywhere. Apple got rid of the grip points and not allows users to click-and-drag anywhere on the column separators.

By contrast, when "Always" ist selected, the column separators revert back to their old behavior. They become thicker and are no longer clickable everywhere but only at the grips – which are obscured by the scrollbars.

In essence: Exactly, when you would need the "resize everywhere" functionality, Apple removes it and introduces a UI bug which makes resizing impossible.

Change your scroll bar behavior settings and compare your results

I also have this problem/dislike this behaviour. The scroll bar should be below the resize drag points or you should be able to resize from any point on the column edge. As another user suggested I did try changing my scroll bar behaviour but then the larger drag points are completely replaced with 1px wide dividers to grab and resize the columns (much less accessible). Additionally, when using a mouse rather than track pad there is not an easy way to scroll horizontally when I am unable to click and drag on the scrollbar. (I'm aware I can program different mouse behaviours but that should not be required for such a fundamental navigation issue.)
