How to stop recurring 'Update Payment Details' notification on iPhone?

Start the process of adding a card to Apple Wallet app. You get to a step that says setup later. At that point stop, tap Setup Later, and close the Wallet app. The notification to setup Apple Pay will stop.

If you erase your iPhone and setup again, you’ll need to repeat the steps. It may also happen when you grade from one iOS version to the next such as iOS 18 to iOS 26. If it happens just repeat the steps.

Have you tried adding a different payment method? If there was a previous billing problem with your payment method, Apple may no longer consider it valid. If that is the case there is no other option than to use a different one.
