Grey bar above messenger hides last things posted. Most common fixes didn’t work.

My entire family is now having this issue after doing the 26.2 update with the keyboard on iPad only for Facebook Messenger. That grey bar makes it so you can’t see the last things you posted or said. I’ve tried every fix that seemed to possibly be associated from force closing the app and rebooting the iPad to turning off the Predictive text. I am stumped. Anyone know a fix?

Me too. Also not fixed in 26.3 beta 2

It is not going to be an OS update that is going to fix that problem, it is going to require an update from Meta. The good news is the Meta is constantly updating Messenger, with 5 in just the last month, but the bad news is that many of those updates also include new bugs, especially with the iPad. The users end up being the bug testers, although Meta does not have a Support Site such as this to discuss those problems, and lacks what most would consider basic support.

At the bottom right is a key w/ an icon that looks like a keyboard w/ down arrow under it. This will hide the keyboard. Does the grey box go away?

No app in the App Store will run on a Windows computer, so not sure how that even fits in the equation. The Messenger app in the App Store was updated just 6 days ago, so you likely first saw the bug sometime between today and 6 days ago after the app had decided to update on your iPad. The Developers have a different UI for each platform, and Meta in particular uses their own custom Text Boxes that are poorly designed to work with other UI elements. It should not be a surprise and if that is the first bug you have encountered in Messenger, you should consider yourself very lucky.

iOS 26.2 was released over a month ago and the bug has just recently appeared in the Messenger app, so it was obviously not from 26.2. Wait and see, and after an update provided by Meta, the issue will likely be resolved and you won't have to update iOS at all for the resolution.
