There is a 2-3 second delay when pausing audio on my HomePod mini

I recently bought a HomePod Mini, I've had several issues with it.

Primarily, there is a significant, noticable delay when playing audio. If I press pause, either from my MacBook, iPad, iPhone or even tapping the glass interface on the HomePod itself, the time it takes from requesting the action (pressing pause button) to it actually pausing is about 2-3 seconds.

Also, it doesn't seem to know my voice for 'hey Siri' commands. I've already tried to fix this, to no avail, by turning off and back on the recognise this voice setting thing in the Home app.

I used to have an Amazon Alexa years ago and never experienced any sound delays or any issues.
