I believe that functionality is provided by the telephone (cell phone) service provider. Have you checked your iPhone to see if the same error occurs?

Thank you, but my IPhone didn’t ring at all. My last call occurred this morning, woke me up, it was my son. I didn’t answer on the watch because I wanted to get up and wake up. After I got up I called my son and he hadn’t called me. I actually woke him up when I called; so it wasn’t a butt dial. Seems very strange and I have no idea. Thoughts?
Here is a possibility but it seems a bit unlikely.
The Apple Watch actually has a separate phone number (assigned by the cell phone provider) but the cell phone provider configures it so it looks as if it is mirroring the iPhone. A call to that unique Apple Watch phone number could cause it to ring. A spam caller can easily make it look like a known number is calling you by using a fake caller ID. But I don't why someone would go to this amount of effort to do this.

That makes sense, but like you, I have no idea why anyone would want to do that! It’s still a bit of a mystery! Thank you!
