How do I play iPhone 17 Pro videos on Photos app on Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14.5?

Videos I'm taking with my iPhone 17 Pro won't play on the Photos app on my Mac which is running Mojave 10.14.5. Is there a way to fix this? It does play videos shot with my iPhone 12 Pro. The error message I get is "Photos cannot play this video. Do you want to try opening it in QuickTime Player?".
