Safari: Cmd + [ sporadically does not go back to previous page — known issue?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand whether this is a known Safari issue and if anyone knows whether an official bug has been filed with Apple.

Problem

Safari sporadically fails to go back to the previous page when pressing Cmd + [.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open the Apple Community search page:

https://discussions.apple.com/search?

2. In the “Enter search terms” field, type any text.

Example: Safari Cmd + [ sporadically does not go back to the previous page.

3. When the search results appear, click on any result to open it.

4. On the opened page, press Cmd + [.

Actual result

Nothing happens. Safari does not navigate back.

Expected result

Safari should return to the previous page (the search results).

Workaround

Click the “Show the previous page” button in the top-left corner of the Safari window.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Is this a known Safari bug, and does anyone know if it has been officially reported to Apple?
