Is it foreseen that Pages can use regular expressions according to the POSIX standard in the future? At least it would be desirable to support the basic functionality BRE (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression#POSIX_basic_and_extended). Does anybody have more insight into the upcoming developments? At present the search function has minimalistic settings :-/

You are welcome. Microsoft Word has Regex search capability as does LibreOffice Writer. Eccentrically implemented though and unlikely meeting current ICU Regular Expression completeness.
And, if you want to check if (in this example) a word exists in a Pages document, you can do the following from the Terminal:
