Problem with Journal and Pencil

Using the Journal on brand new iPad Air 13’ with OS26.2. Got a Pencil Pro specifically to use on the Journal. However, when I write into the Journal I keep losing the handwritten entries. I have carefully saved the entry, but the handwritten portion disappears. Exceedingly frustrating. It appears this has been an issue for some time (I now see it was noted TWO years go). I bought a new iPad and a Pencil Pro (and a case to hold both) and it does not work for a clearly well-intended use. Is this still a on-going problem. Can this be fixed? If this will continue, I want to return the Pencil as it is useless to me.
