2020 iMac Wi-Fi speed dropped after updating to Tahoe 26.2

Just updated my Imac 2020 to 26.2 Tahoe last night on Sunday and now Wifi speed has dropped from 500 mbps to 30-50 mbps on speedtest.

How can I fix this?

I have renewed DHCP, done "forget this network" multiple times, switched off to limit IP tracking...restarted modem and imac multiple times, have deleted a few plists like: com.apple.airport.preferences.plist......even changed router to latest Wifi 6 instead of Wifi 5 previously.....but nothing works.

Changed the router today due to intermittent wifi breaks and many times (all day) random popular websites were not loading which I believe now.... was due to Tahoe 26 or 26.1. But they would load after a few seconds.

In my older imac (Late 2012, 27 inch, Intel Core i5, using Catalina) speed is 120-150mbps on same wifi network.

On iphone is showing 500-530mbps. (17 Pro Max)

How do I fix my newer 2020 end iMac? (3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4)

Can I delete Tahoe 26.2 an go to Tahoe 26.0 or even more backwards? How to do this?

All I need is a stable wifi and normal speed of 200 or 300 mbps etc.

Thanks for all suggestions and help. Much appreciated.

Are you running some vpn software? If that is the case... don't.

Also: try restarting in Safe Mode, and test. Do you still get that low speed?

Restart normally? Does it get slow again?

If it is slow when running normally, but ok in Safe Mode, it is for sure some third party software modification.

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

If it is slow even in Safe Mode, then check your Network settings. Are you using some proxy?

Thank you for the report.

(as an aside: using the "additional text", you could have posted the whole report in one piece only; that would have saved me from copying and pasting it together :-))

The only thing of note in it is the google stuff, notably chrome and the google updater daemons and agents.

They are terrible resource hogs.

On another note: perhaps there is something less than optimal in the Wifi settings.

In System Settings->Wifi, what are the settings under TCP/IP, under Proxies (there should not be any), and under Hardware?

Hi Luis. Many thanks for your kind response, much appreciated for your time in helping me.

I do not run any VPN software. I barely download anything from online except a few stuff long in the past. I prefer stability therefore, I don't use any movies or music or graphics or videos or any graphic stuff on my imac. Nothing downloaded except pre installed apps which also I rarely use.

I tested in normal mode (55-65mbps), then safe mode was same, and back again in normal mode was same 55-65mbps at this time.

So it remains slow. My other older 2012 imac is on Catalina and still at 170-180 mbps. While iphone is 506 mbps.

I deleted some google updater files that were idle just now.

Please suggest any tips on how I could fix this matter? Many million thanks again.

I could not find any unsigned files to delete, perhaps you could guide me, if that is helpful to increase the wifi speed.

Sorry about the 3 diff uploads, surprisingly, gemini.google AI told me that there is only 1,300 words so I kept cutting from bottom upwards....hence the 3 cut and paste. Sorry about that.

Here are TCP/IP, Proxies and Hardware settings. I think they are normal because I dont dabble in these and should be originals since inception.

The strange part is that , that only this imac is having issues but nothing else, and this is the only having Tahoe 26.2. So router is ok. iphone is ok, Catalina is ok.

Even the technician who came to replace the router (because of my complaints to the ISP) said the same thing, that there is something wrong with my software/hardware on the imac.

Any other things that you suggest I can do?

Or do you suggest I rollback the Tahoe 26.2?

Thanks a lot again,
