Restore iPad 6 data after trade-in reset?

I was thinking of trading in my iPad 6 for a more updated version, once I reset the iPad for this could I get all my info back again if I change my mind?

iPad mini 6, iPadOS 18

A backup makes a copy of the content on a device and stores that in another location. You can then restore that backup to a different device. You cannot edit the content of a backup (I am simplifying this some—there are different ways backup can be made and how they work). If you want to edit the content you either do that before making your backup or after you have restored it again.

In your context, you would make a backup of your old iPad and then trade it in. Should you decide to refuse the trade-in and have the iPad returned to you, or if you bought a newer iPad, you would then restore the backup to the returned device or to the newer device. Any editing would be made before or after this.

That said, iCloud does things differently. I could write a very, very long post outlining that. Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud - Apple Support
