How to remove Chengdu Aibo Tech Co.?

In an attempt to help a friend with a very old mac I was searching for an installable version of MacOS 10.13.6 but was unsuccessful (The old mac has trouble going online, so I wanted to download it on my more modern mac, make a bootable disk en start from there. Fruitless effort.). In that process I appear to have allowed an login section called 'Chengdu Aibo Tech Co., Ltd.' to squeeze itself onto my login sections. It must have hidden itself on my startup disk under an obscure other name because I can't find it anywhere now that I learned it is not helping me and I want to remove this bit of software from my disk. Even with 'show hidden files' I am unable to locate it. Does anyone know under which name it hides itself? Any idea how to get rid of it?

I second Limnos' suggestion to try using Malwarebytes to see if it can locate and remove this potential malware. Let us know if it was successful, and if not, we can recommend some additional steps you can take.

Just to be sure:

  • Is this issue with your 16" MacBook Pro, that is running macOS Sequoia 15.7 or with your friend's Mac?
  • Did you still want to secure a clean copy of the macOS High Sierra installer software?

Yes the issue presents itself on my MacBook. The old one of my friend has issues getting online, nor can it read devices connected through USB. I was hoping to produce a cd or something to connect through FireWire, hoping that port would still function. But we’ve given up hope.

So no need for an installer for 10.13 anymore.

I’ll see if I can work with malwarebytes. The software that this lingering Chengdu bit came with I already removed. This is just clinging about. Nasty sticky software.
