NOTES is missing the microphone to dictate content

I use the Notes app on my iPad to dictate my notes into it. Since updating to Tahoe IOS, the microphone icon is nowhere to be found except in the search bar field. Has the feature been removed or is it just hidden somewhere? Please help.

Hello LeroyDouglas, that was super helpful On my iPad I figured out (thanks to you) how to use dictation: I have to press "Control" twice with the cursor in Notes. Then it works. However, on my iMac (Mac Mini) I followed your screenshot instructions and dictation does not work. When I click on "Start Dictation" or press FN and D, my Mac makes a little bell sound, but does not activate dictation. At least it now works on my iPad—thank you! It's just frustrating because it was so easy before the ios 26.2 update. The Mic icon was right there at the bottom task-bar of the Notes screen. Now there is an extra step to activate it. Again, thank you.

< re: macOS 26.2 >

Do you see the prompts...

Verify you have Dictation turned on in >System Settings.... and the short cut Control key twice(?)
