MacBook Pro 14-inch charging port damaged, 4/5 contacts

this is what the pin assignments for those pins are:

the LEDs in the cable end of the MagSafe cable are ONLY set by commands from the computer. So when those lights are operating, the computer has turned them on.

an undamaged plug is reversible, and provided the center pin is present, only one power and one ground are needed to get power and ground into the computer to charge it.

That said, that is not the way I would want my computer to be working.

I suggest using USB-C charging or getting the MagSafe port fixed.

Possibilities of flames and fire and damage aside, if you have a USB-C power supply and a USB-C charging or USB-C communications cable with a wattage rating high enough, try it.

Assuming it doesn’t catch fire or incur other problems secondary to the charging port damage, USB-C charging should work.
