How to recover lost PDF files after reinstalling Adobe on iPad Pro?

I had an issue with freezing of Adobe Premium on my iPad (pro) - Adobe suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Before uninstalling it prompted me that my files and data would not be removed. ****'s bell - they all are gone, and I can't find them. Normally, on a PC I would just connect the 2 and search all the files on the iPad. Unfortunately I now only have a Mac. - which of course recognizes the iPad as a device and only allows access to certain things using tabs. When I look in the "files" tab all it does is show me the few files I have used - everything else is GONE. (but the amount of data indicates the data is still there)

Is there are way to "open" the drive on an iPad and search for the lost files? or has apples's "simplicity" screwed me again? (for the life of me I don't understand why apple uses such an antiquated file system or do Apple users just have movies, music and photos and do no actually work with them?)

Adobe isn't an Apple product and not an Apple issue.

Ask Adobe support what happen to your pdf, since they said it would return.
