Since you haven’t specified the type of Wi-Fi network your device is connecting to (home, school/corporate, public, or captive), I’m assuming this is a captive Wi-Fi network. Frequent disconnections are quite common with captive Wi-Fi and would explain the behavior you’re experiencing.
This could potentially be due to the type of Wi-Fi network you're connecting to. If it's a hotel Wi-Fi or a network that requires a login with a user ID and password, the disconnection might be intentional. Such networks are often configured to disconnect devices when they're idle for an extended period or when the device is locked to conserve bandwidth or enforce re-authentication for security reasons.
Exploring whether this issue is specific to networks requiring a login or following up on any specific configurations on these networks might shed light on the disconnection problem you're experiencing. If it's indeed a network-specific behavior, adjusting settings or reaching out to the network administrators might help resolve this issue.
Use captive Wi-Fi networks on your iPhone or iPad
Have you restarted the router?
Have you talked to your carrier about the issue? If so, what did they say? Have you reset network settings on your iPhone? Do you use a VPN?
Yes , restarted router many times. It may help for a short time but then relapses.
i should clarify the issue. I called it a “disconnection”. Better terms would be “extreme slowdown”. For example, while browsing Facebook I can see plain text posts. But if there is an image or video, then you have to set the phone down and go for a walk until it loads. If it is stalled, then I can start it by going to settings and turn off wifi, then connect again. This fix is temporary as the next download will stall again. Modem speed tests show that upload and download speeds are within specs. Modem is a Bell home hub 2000.
This is a home network. It is not a captive one.
