My iPhone 16 just updated and now I can't send pictures by email from my Photo App.
Never a problem until the update.
So I tried doing it from my email and that worked, but now each picture is image now marked image0.jpeg, image1.jpeg etc.
When I go to save them I have to change the image name which is very inconvenient.

What happens, when you try to share photos from Photos by mail? Do you get an error message when you try to share in the Photos.app or later from the server? What is the error message you are receiving?
I had a similar problem after upgrading to iOS26.2 - the server rejected all mails sent by Photos with the error message that the email addresses were not valid - my own sender address and the recipient address. it seems to be a bug in iOS26.2.
If you emails from Photos are also rejected by the server and not send, you may want to send feedback to Apple with a bug report while waiting for a bugfix. Photos for iOS - Feedback - Apple

Try force close the mail app ,Also try to Restart your iPhone , If this does not work, this may be an expected behavior if 48 hours have not passed since you updated the device, as it may index images, etc.

No, this doesn't seem to be a "turn it off - turn it back on" sort of problem at all. The best you can do is add a report to Apple at the link léonie provided and hope for a fix.
Yes that is exactly what is happening to mine. They just sit in the outbox and even if I open and try to send them, they won't send.
I can send them by the mail app, but it's more work!!
Sending from the Photos App is so much easier.
