How to toggle pointer size with a hotkey on Mac?

I would like to toggle between standard pointer size and larger pointer size using a hot key. Is this possible? I have tried Automator. Just uploaded to Tahoe 26.2

I would like a variable sized pointer (cursor) but have been unable to find a way of accomplishing it so I have compromised by making my pointer larger permanently.

As can be seen in the screenshot I have set the Pointer size slider about a third the way across the scale. This gives a larger, clearly visible cursor without it being obtrusive.

I have also given it a white outline to make it more visible against awkward/dark backgrounds.

Please Clarify your Post:

A "hotkey" is a keyboard shortcut. As for your word "pointer", are you referring to the word "cursor"?

Increasing the Cursor Size when Hovering Over a Hyperlink:

If you want the cursor to increase-in-size, when ohvered over a hyperlink on a Web browser or anywhere else (i.e. in a MS Word Document), then note that is not an option built in to your Mac --not even an Accessibly feature. However, there may be an add-on you can use; just be cautious as to where you get it.

Recommend this to Apple:

Do your Part: Inform Apple of this idea. You'd do so by providing Apple Feedback on this.  Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback thy receive from its users, the more likely they will know what their customers prefer, and what options to include in macOS versions to come. Apple will know nothing of your thoughts, if you don't provide them o them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "User Interface" for the "Feedback Area"
  4. Comment: that you want this to be a feature, and how you think it can help others. Include the URL of this thread.
  5. Proceed from there as necessary
