Drop this behind the dock in error?

I am not sure what I did. Looks like I accidentally dragged something behind the dock. I realized this when the location of the pointer revealed a white square or corner of something in the lower right corner of the screen. I caught it in my peripheral vision. As the latter may sound confusing, I took a pic with my phone. Does anyone know what this is? Thank you.

That's not something that you accidentally dragged behind the Dock. If you look in System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Hot Corners …, I bet you'll see something like this. Clicking within the outline after it pops up starts Notes and creates a new blank note for you to type in.

Judging by the pull-down menu in Create a Quick Note on Mac - Apple Support, the feature has been around since Monterey, although I don't know when Apple started assignig it as a default Hot Corners setting. If you don't want to see it, just change the setting to blank, or to one of the other options.

From the screenshot, it appears that you may have clicked on the desktop, which is causing all the windows to move aside.

Just click on an empty area of the desktop to move them back.

And, for the future, if you don't want this, you can turn it off in settings:

System Settings->Desktop & Dock,

for "Click wallpaper to show desktop" change from "Always" to "Only in Stage Manager" (assuming you have Stage Manager off; there is no way to disable this feature while Stage Manager is on, as far as I can tell).
