Carrier Locked iPhone 17 Pro Max 2TB

There are several ways to buy iPhones on the Apple site. On the U.S. site, if you pay for a phone up-front, in full, or purchase it with Apple financing, it will be unlocked. If you choose a carrier financing options, your phone may be locked.

The "see details" pages for the T-Mobile Installment Plan and Verizon Device Payment Plan say "Your new iPhone will be unlocked, which means you can use it with any carrier that provides service for iPhone." The pages for the AT&T Installment Plans and for Boost Mobile financing don't, which I take to mean that any phone which you buy using those financing options will be carrier-locked.

If you bought a phone with AT&T or Boost Mobile financing, I'm guessing that the carrier won't consider releasing their lock until you have paid off the contract in full.
