What exactly did you try to force restart?

Did it maybe run out of battery? Have you plugged it in to charge?

If you hold down the power button for several seconds does it show something in screen, like a battery icon?

While a 5th gen has been discontinued by Apple this should not cause it to simply shut down and not turn back on. So not sure what the comment by sberman was trying to imply.

Leave it plugged in to a wall outlet for a while and see if it comes on. If it still won't, then it's very likely dead, and your only recourse would be to take it into an Apple Store.

The 6th Generation iPad is still considered Vintage (not Obsolete yet) by Apple, so is still serviceable. Might be your only recourse at this point to try to get it to start again if it won't turn on by any other means.
