audible alerts with family sharing

with a new SE3 cellular + GPS watch for my wife suffering with dementia, I set it up naturally with family sharing on my iPhone, but within her own AppleID.

Tracking and phone communications worked fine. SOS features hopefully too but not tested! Seemed logical to also send any alerts from relevant events in her calendar too. The events appear visible on the watch, but any alerts set only sound on my iPhone, not on the watch, so useless as a memory jogger.

Apple admit this failing….anyone found a work a round? Time I’m afraid is of the essence!

Over the past week I’ve spent well over FIVE hours on the telephone with ALL levels of Apple Technical Support. Together they have tried option after option. It’s because the watch is paired as a Family Sharing. All written help says “select notifications” on the iPhone Watch App but that option IS NOT THERE!!!! It says use “mirroring” but that’s also NOT THERE!! It’s unacceptable that answers to questions asked, are INCORRECT.

Dependant of pairing selection one gets a totally different set of options and that’s wrong! Apple is responsible for miss-selling…..to the elderly, those with dementia, and young children and their parents. It’s a disgrace!

I am wondering if you might be able to achieve what you want if you had her watch on your Apple ID instead of hers.

Two issues come to mind if you were to do this: your alerts might show/sound on her watch also (but you might be able too suppress that in her watch settings); and she might be able to do something in your Apple ID from her watch that you don't want her to do.
