Preview is not working correctly on iMac

My Preview is acting wonky for some reason and I have no idea how to fix it. I just got a new iMac recently and it wasn't doing it on my laptop.

I have Tahoe 26.2

I am enclosing a screenshot and hope you can help.

Thank you in advance.

Preview is not a PDF Editor, so you can only add an annotation layer above the existing PDF.

For the character string "V 2 O" you select the Text tool from the markup toolbar (shift+cmd+A) and then just enter the text string. You have control over the text color, font, and font size from the Text Style tool. It would appear that you are attempting to draw freehand these letters using the sketch tool and that isn't much fun.

As has been pointed out, we need to know what your plan was here in your submitted image. Terms like "wonky" do not tell a story about your intended accomplishment. We are not clairvoyant…

I thought I did, it asked for my computer info etc. It is just annoying when I try to write things and it goes like the photo. Not sure what you mean by:

"maybe you should elaborate, and try to describe what about your screenshot you would have looked at differently"?

I would just like to make marks, numbers etc without the other things and look half decent.
