Magic Keyboard and IOS update - iPad (no predictive text)

What has happened to the Magic Keyboard after the latest iPad update!? There’s no predictive/suggested text now unless I remove the keyboard and use the inbuilt one which is ridiculous. In some instances I can make it pop up FOR JUST ONE WORD then it disappears again (but not texts, for example). My iPad is almost unusable now for text-related activities.
