Apple Support remotely accessed my Mac using ScreenConnect?

Someone claiming to be Someone claiming to be Apple Support remotely accessed my Mac using ScreenConnect. I want to make sure my system is completely safe.

He called me from 42***. His name is RICHARD *****. He says his apple ID is AS***. His says he is level 3 support.

Apple does not - EVER - call users out of the blue. NEVER!


And they do not use any third party software to remotely login to your device. If you call the real Apple customer support, and they conclude they need to look at your device, they'll have open Safari and go to an official Apple web page where you enter a number they give you to initiate a connection. Their remote access is built directly into the OS.


Since ScreenConnect is third party remote access software then, without question, you were not speaking to Apple.
