Imac dfu mode how to

How do i put a firmware locked imac into dfu mode. i just bought a new board and it was locked i want to try and save the board and get it working. its a 27inch 2017 imac

You don't.

There is no way to bypass the firmware passcode. If you bought a used logic board that's firmware locked, return it and get your money back. There is a very real possibility it came from a stolen machine. Even if that's not the case, it's useless.

FYI, only the iMac Pro (2017) model has a DFU Mode because it had a T2 security chip, otherwise the only other Intel iMacs with a T2 security chip & DFU Mode were the 2020 models....of course all current M-series Macs have a security enclave chip & DFU Mode.


The vanilla iMac (2017) models had no DFU Mode....same with the 2019 iMacs as well.


When you get the replacement MLB, make sure to try & Option Boot it to make sure it also is not firmware locked.
