macOS Clock app day/night display is not updating

I usually leave the MacOS Clock app running so that I can see which part of the world are in daylight at any given time, but just recently it seems that while the indicated times of my chosen cities update themselves, the day / night display does not.

To reproduce, open the app and note the position of dawn, dusk, midday, etc. Come back 6 hours later and it's stuck in the same place, even though the times in various cities have updated.

I have never heard of this World clock.app function on Mac until you mention it here..

What I can suggest:

—You can try quitting the App and relaunch it holding the Shift key down and compare your results...

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

—you can try reinstalling the macOS on top of your existing macOS

Recovery (both M1/M2/M3/M4 and Intel) — How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

No resolve—

you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple
