Does anyone know how to fix microphone issues on a 2022 MacBook Pro M2

Hey so I bought a MacBook Pro M2 2022 off of a friend and it had no issues I checked it before buying it after resetting the device the mic no longer picked up audio and is forcing voice isolation everytime I change it to standard I've looked into myself a bit over the last few weeks and have tried various things such as


Force quitting coreaudiod in terminal and activity monitor

Restarting SMC

Restarting VMRAM/PRAM

Updating to newest software (Tahoe 26.2)

Doing a second hard reset on the MAC


I can't even get the mic to work or stop forcing voice isolation in safe mode at this point I'm thinking its a hardware issue I don't have any issues other than what I've described I'm at a loss looking for a last ditch attempt before spending money to get the hardware fixed and I have no idea the cost on it because i cant diagnose the exact possible failing hardware


I appreciate any help and advice given thank you in advance

Excellent job troubleshooting this!


A. Verify this is Installed System Information...

  1. Hold Down: option key
  2. Click: Apple menu
  3. Select: System Information
  4. Click: Audio
  5. Verify: MacBook Pro Microphone is shown


B. Single-Out this User:

Create a new Administrator user, seeing if you still get this error. If so, not, then it pertains to this current user. If so, then it is a system wide error, any you need to proceed from here with a reinstall.


C. Reinstall the macOS:

If installed, reinstall the macOS to get the drivers reinstalled, as they may be corrupted. Nothing would be deleted; it's just that and corrupt or missing system files will be replaced or reinstalled, respectively. Go Here: How to Reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support. Important: Be certain to create a backup of your Mac prior to all of this. That way, you can have something to restore from the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall. Once reinstalled, try this once more.
