ipad on screen keyboard typing double letters

why is my ipad on screen keyboard typing double letters?

I have tried multiple reboots, cleaning screen, cleaning hands, deliberrrrateelly (ok there’s the example, I’ll leave others in as they appear ) typing very lightlyc and very slowly, checked all typing related accessibility options like key repeat, all are off.. iPad is updated to latest iOOS. Any ideas?
