Apple Health, Apps & Watch Ultra 2 sync issues after upgrade SOLVED

Apple Health and Apple Watch Ultra 2 Sync issues solved!

Devices:

iPhone 16 Pro Max (iOS 26.3)

Apple Watch Ultra 2 (watchOS 26.3)

Apple Health: Latest as of 01/24/26)

Problem:

Apple Health wouldn’t update from my paired AWU2 l, apps or saved providers AFTER an upgrade from a iPhone 14 Pro Max to an iPhone 16 Pro Max in which I did a cloud reinstall.

I read every article, uninstalled and reinstalled Apple Health, unpaired and repaired AWU2 (pain in the *** if you ask me - digital keys and watch apps for smart home had to be reinstallled, amongst other things).

When I reinstalled Apple Health there was nothing at all in my health app. Nothing synced or was brought back down from iCloud backup.

AWU2 still did not sync activities, sleep or other metrics from my apps even though I reauthorized the apps and set all permissions in AH settings, privacy, apps to turn on all.

The following is what has been my solution.

  1. Open settings on iPhone -> Click your name at the top (Apple account, iCloud +, and more) -> iCloud - Under Saved to iCloud Click See All -> Under Health see if you have data backed up (look for data size below it) and that it is ON)
  2. This is important - if your Health doesn’t show any data and the switch was OFF AND you show data in your Health App, let it fully sync to iCloud. If you don’t have enough storage, buy more or this won’t work.
  3. Once your data has been backup up to iCloud and you know it is a current backup then proceed if your apps don’t sync with AH, your iWatch doesn’t sync your activities or more.
  4. IF your health data is on and is fully backed up to iCloud then go to step 5. If not go back to step 1.
  5. Open settings on iPhone -> Click your name at the top (Apple account, iCloud +, and more) -> iCloud - Under Saved to iCloud Click See All -> Under Health -> click the ON next to Health and a window will open. Next to Sync this iPhone -> Turn Off -> Turn off Health in iCloud -> Turn Off. THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT: click DELETE FROM MY IPHONE.
  6. Once that is complete, reboot your phone and go back to: Open settings on iPhone -> Click your name at the top (Apple account, iCloud +, and more) -> iCloud - Under Saved to iCloud Click See All -> Under Health -> click the OFF next to Health and a window will open. Next to Sync this iPhone -> Turn ON. You will now see in the Health app that it is syncing with iCloud. Depending on the size of the backup it can take a while.
  7. Once fully refunded make sure you go back to all apps and AH to make sure everything has permissions from both inside AH and your apps.

Hope this helps someone.
