Some open apps flash then disappear when swiping up. Can’t close them.

Any fix for this yet? Been happening for 3 months. Does Apple care about this?

In landscape orientation, when I swipe up from the bottom of the Ipad to show open apps, the grid of apps will have blank spots where apps should be (and they are there but you cannot see them but for a split second), nor can you swipe them up to close them. And when I swipe up to close the ones that are visible I cannot get back to my homescreen without swiping down from the top, then up from the bottom. This is definitely a bug of some sort. And it is basically a brand new Ipad. I’ve tried everything, nothing has worked.

If your iPad is not operating as expected, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to assist with troubleshooting:

Of course it's not;

1) Started just immediately after upgrading or installing iPadOs 26 in all my iPads. One of them is brand new.

2) Affects the UI and it's related to very specific gestures and conditions. Hardware doesnt care of

gestures or interface conditions, so its not an option.

3) You can flush GPU and UI buffers, so bypass the bug itself, by switching to Stage Manager because it does reassign the entire UI to different managers; multitasking vs desktop focus. Desktop is more affected by the bug, but you can also get it with Stage Manager mode too.

4) Plenty of users reporting this, just ignored.

Again, sigh.

I took mine into an Apple service place. They sent it in and Apple sent me a new Ipad. I built it from scratch, did not restore from a backup. Same issue within a few minutes. The Apple place told me it was a software issue so DO NOT use your backup cause you might just bring the problem back, so I didn't. And it still does the same thing. Definitely some kind of bug. It is NOT a hardware issue.

Did all of that. Nothing worked. It’s a bug. Apple has to remedy this via a new software update. Many people dealing with same issue. Not sure why they have not fixed this. Very disappointing.

No, it is NOT a bug. If it was a bug you would see 10,000 posts or more about it. This is a problem with your iPad.

If you carefully follow the instructions posted by LotusPilot and your iPad doesn’t restart it has a hardware problem.

Placing the number of reports in the ratio of the entire userbase isnt a valid procedure in debugging. Thanks the lord Id say.

Bugs can ve VERY environmental specific and depend on specific combinations of OS, data inconsistencies, device and user configurations that are not widely representing the general userbase (which is not even a thing, technically speaking).

Also even just 20 users reporting an issue may actually be the "tip of the iceberg," representing a much larger, unseen group of users who are experiencing the same issue but not taking the time to report it. This entire forum is a minority per se. I have read

people reporting this on reddit, facebook, couple of youtube vids, mac reports and few other threads over here.

Also you must have missed the bit where I said u can close the apps with same gestures, switching to stage manager.
