iPhone 16 Pro StandBy notifications not displaying

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with the StandBy mode on my iPhone 16 Pro. I purchased a MagSafe charging station to use my phone as a desk clock in StandBy mode. While it generally works beautifully, I have a persistent problem: notifications do not always appear on the screen when they arrive, although the alert sound does play.

The "Show Notifications" option in StandBy settings is turned ON. I have tried adjusting the settings multiple times, hoping to fix it, but nothing helps except restarting the phone. However, even a restart only provides a temporary solution. After using the phone during the day and placing it back on the charger, the notifications often stop appearing again.

I've read that notifications might not show if you have paired Apple Watch (as they take priority), but I do NOT have an Apple Watch.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a known solution or setting I might have missed?

Thank you for any help.

Simply keeping the device on charge will not activate Standby Mode.

It is unclear whether Standby Mode is activated after placing the device on the charger.

If any of the Focus modes are also activated alongside the Standby mode, then notifications will only appear based on the Focus Mode settings. These status settings are not mentioned in your post.

This is not true:

Where notifications appear

Notifications will appear on your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both.

If your iPhone is unlocked, you’ll receive notifications on your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch.

If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you’ll receive notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked.

Some apps, such as the Noise app, are only available on your Apple Watch. Notifications for these apps won’t appear on your iPhone.

  • The red notification icon will appear at the top of your watch face when you have unread notifications. If you want to hide the notification icon, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap Notifications, then turn off Notifications Indicator.

When you read or dismiss notifications on your Apple Watch, they’ll also be also dismissed from your iPhone.

My MagSafe charging station supports the Qi2 standard, and I place the phone in landscape orientation.

Yes, when I place the device on the charger, the StandBy mode activates correctly.

If any of the Focus modes are also activated alongside the Standby mode, then notifications will only appear based on the Focus Mode settings. These status settings are not mentioned in your post.

Additionally, sometimes even when no Focus modes are active, notifications still do not display. Right now, after restarting my iPhone, I have the Personal Focus mode enabled, but with no notification restrictions, and the notifications are displaying — but that's likely just because I restarted the phone. The problem is that at some unpredictable moment, when I put the iPhone back on the charger, notifications may stop displaying again, even though they are coming through and I hear the sound.
