Question regarding iPhone SE 3rd generation version 26.2

I had an automatic update on my SE to 26.2. Never again. It didn't recognize my passcode so I had to reset the phone. It deleted some of my contacts, removed the ability to use a mike on Messages and something else I can't remember. Anyone else have this disaster happen?

Also, now it wants to delete all my messages on my MacBook Pro when I delete them from the iPhone. I disabled messages in iCloud on my Mac like I was told to do, but it made no difference. I would like help with that.

Thanks.

Take things one at a time.

  • After you reset your phone why didn't you just restore a recent backup?
  • Contacts sync to email servers; iOS has nothing to do with contacts, all it does is show the contacts that sync with your email account(s). So if you make sure you are logged in to your email servers the contacts will return.
  • By default whenever you delete a message from one device it will be deleted from all devices that you have listed in Settings/Apps/Messages/Send&Receive. Messages has always worked this way. Where did you see to disable iCloud on your Mac?

I don't have a recent backup. My phone says I cannot back it up. I guess it's too full.

You mean log into my email server on the iphone? Because I don't use my email on my phone. And it only removed a few of my contacts but why? And no microphone for messages? Why that? I called Apple about that and was told to use voice control to make up for it. No thanks.

Until the backup, I was able to delete messages from my phone and keep them on my Mac like I want to.

I didn't disable iCloud I disabled messages from iCloud by going to Messages, settings, and I unchecked "enable messages in iCloud." I found that online and when I called Apple they told me to do the same thing but it didn't do what I wanted it to do by letting me delete messages off my phone but keep them on my Mac.
