when screen sharing my friend cannot hear me on their end, or I cannot hear them. When they screen share they can hear me, but I cannot hear them.

If you are experiencing audio issues while using a third‑party screen-sharing app, the best course of action is to reach out directly to the app’s developer. They will be able to explain why you cannot hear the person on the other end and provide guidance on how to resolve the problem.

For a smoother experience, we recommend using FaceTime. With FaceTime, you won’t encounter the common one‑sided audio issues that often occur in third‑party apps. Do keep in mind, however, that FaceTime is designed to prioritize human voices during a call. This means if there is background noise on the other end, FaceTime will filter it out so you only hear the speaker clearly. As a result, any non‑voice audio—such as music, videos, or system sounds—will not be transmitted.

FaceTime includes an audio feature called Voice Isolation, which is designed to prioritize human speech and suppress background noise. This means voices come through clearly, but other sounds—like music, videos, or ambient noise—are filtered out and may not be transmitted.
