Can a new iPhone 17 withstand snorkeling during an overwater vacation?

Do not take an expensive piece of electronics snorkeling without a waterproof casing. Unless, of course, you want to pay to buy a new one when you're done.

No iPhone is waterproof. They are water-resistant.

NO. iPhone is not waterproof. And ocean water is HUGELY corrosive. If you are willing to destroy your new phone, which will have no warranty support after you destroy it, knock yourself out. But you should NOT take your iPhone snorkeling in any way, whatsoever.

The old joke about yes you can, but only once, applies here. There are waterproof cases made for exactly what you want to do. They’re available on Amazon and modestly priced. An additional option would be to purchase Apple Care + (if available in your country or region) which offers coverage if your iPhone suffers water damage.

Hello~ I believe we have gone over this in great detail with you already in past discussions. Skiing, sauna, water parks now snorkeling. As always water and electronic equipment do not go well together. This is an immutable fact.
