Those messages actually gives us some important clues. What’s happening is that your iCloud account is still associating parts from two different AirPods sets (the stolen ones and the new ones). When AirPods are “mismatched,” Find My disables location features, even though Bluetooth audio still works normally.
Here’s what I recommend next:
- First, on your iPhone go to Settings › Bluetooth, tap the ⓘ next to Priya’s AirPods Pro, and choose Forget This Device.
- Then go to Settings › [your name] › Find My › Devices, select the AirPods if listed, and Remove Device.
- Restart the iPhone, then reset the new AirPods by holding the case button for ~15 seconds until the light flashes amber then white, and set them up again while signed into iCloud. After setup completes, Find My should activate within a few minutes.
If the message still says “Mismatched,” it usually means one AirPod or the charging case was previously paired to a different Apple Account (sometimes from refurbished or replacement stock). In that case, Apple Support needs to clear the pairing on their end.
